    Director of Boot Camp

Robby started interning with us through the Aurora University in January 2011 where he got his BA in Health Science: Fitness and Health. Over the next year and a half, he shadowed classes, personal training, and built relationships with all the members.  His passion for fitness and helping others was very obvious from the start.  Around June 2012 Robby started teaching a few classes a week, and by January 2013 he came on as a full time trainer.  Robby also heads up our bootcamp “Skinny Fit” program where he programs all the workouts and teaches all the classes.

     1. How did you get started in CrossFit?

In college they had me choose an internship; I saw what Crossfit was all about on T.V and thought man these people are crazy.  So I found the nearest Crossfit Box closet to  my house and luckily that’s where I found Craig and Jen Kaufman, who took me under their wing and made me the trainer I am today!

    2.  What is your favorite thing about CrossFit Resurgence?

My Favorite thing about Crossfit Resurgence has to be the people. When I first started as an intern I felt welcomed the first day I was there. You have a bond with these people that you don’t get at a Globo Gym. It’s awesome to see people congratulate others after an awesome accomplishment and it’s great that people want to know what else is going on outside of the gym.

    3. What are your two favorite movements of CrossFit?
Has to be Thrusters and Toes to Bar.  Thrusters is just a total body suck!  It’s a great movement and its fun to do, but doing a lot of them makes your body hurt.  Toes to bar are another one of those movements that suck while you’re doing them, but afterwards you feel great. Also it brings me back to elementary school swinging on the monkey bars.

    4.  What makes taking your classes so fun?
I think people think my classes are fun because I am very interactive with the class.

    5. What is your favorite food?

I could always go for a good pizza, but if I had to choose give me a steak, baked potatoes, and some grilled onions. I would be the happiest guy ever.

    6. What is your best personality attribute?

I wouldn’t say I have one best one, but a few good ones.  I can be very outgoing and personable, I can definitely  lend an ear or two if you need be and some say I have a pretty good sense of humor.

    7. What does the “perfect day” look like to you?

Perfect day for me would be hitting up a wod with some of my guys, grilling up some food, playing some bags then just relaxing the rest of the evening. (maybe a bonfire with some tasty S’mores).

    8. What’s one thing that most people don’t know about you?

To be honest you I am an open book, there is nothing that I keep to myself.
